- After her sister died, she raised her niece and nephew. She took care of her mother into her old age. She only went to school through the 6th grade. She worked at (Johnson & Stevens?) J S &S shoe company as a clerk or bookkeeping from Aug.2,1916 to June 15, 1955. As a young woman she soloed in the church choir. She sang in the church choir into her 80s. She lived several years in California in the 1970s, helping when her niece went back to work. But she missed St. Louis and moved back there when her grandnieces were in highschool. She was wonderful at baking. She was a very fastidious housekeeper. She always said her daily prayers. She lived almost her whole life in the South St. Louis neighborhood near St. Anthony's.
